Support for carers

Carers help people stay safe and well at home. In Surrey, there is a wide range of support to help carers look after themselves and the person they care for.

Carers should tell their GP about their caring role and register with Action for Carers Surrey. They offer information, training, events, one to one support and signposting.

Carers may be able to get a one off £300 wellbeing break payment. They can also ask for a carer’s assessment. This looks at their needs and the ongoing support they may need.

Carers can plan for emergencies by creating a back up plan or using the Jointly app. The app is free for Surrey carers with the code EFC1460. Carers can also get a free Surrey Carers ID card which includes emergency contacts.

Action for Carers Surrey offers support at 15 Carer Hubs. Online and phone support is also available through Connect to Support Surrey, Citizens Advice and Mobilise.
