- Description: First Community’s Outpatient Physiotherapy Service is a team of specialist physiotherapists, who provide expert treatment and guidance to rehabilitate and re-educate people with a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders within a clinic setting. They assess, diagnose and treat patients, from the age of 16 onwards, with conditions including: <ul class="bull pad-left2 mar-bot1"> <li>neck pain</li> <li>whiplash</li> <li>low back pain</li> <li>post-operative conditions</li> <li>persistent (chronic) pain</li> <li>rheumatological conditions</li> <li>occupational health injuries</li> <li>pelvic, obstetric and gynaecological physiotherapy</li> </ul> The treatments covered by the service include: <ul class="bull pad-left2 mar-bot1"> <li>exercise prescription</li> <li>exercise classes</li> <li>manual therapy</li> <li>acupuncture</li> <li>electrotherapy</li> <li>taping advice</li> </ul> First Community accepts self-referrals to musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy. This allows patients to refer themselves without having to see their GP first. Patients must be 16 years old or above, and registered with an east Surrey GP. Referrals can also be made by a GP or consultant. This is an NHS service.
