Asylum and Immigration Tribunal (AIT)

This is an independent group that looks at asylum and immigration cases.

You might be able to appeal to the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) if the Home Office has:

  • said no to your asylum or protection claim
  • refused your human rights claim
  • made a decision under EEA rules, like:
    • refusing a residence document
    • deciding to deport them
    • taken away your protection status
    • taken away your British citizenship

You can appeal online or by post. The tribunal is not part of the government. A judge will listen to both sides and make a fair decision. To find out how to appeal, visit the website.
