Ashtead U3A

University Of The Third Age

We are part of a national and international movement of people, retired or no longer in full-time employment, who wish to keep active, mentally and physically. It's a sociable way to learn together and from each other, not a question of studying for qualifications. One of more than 950 U3As in the UK, we were founded in 2006 and now have nearly 700 members.

We are a lively and friendly group enjoying a wide range of creative, study, physical and leisure activities. All our activities are organised and run by members who freely give their time, experience and expertise. With over 70 groups so far, you should find something to suit your interests. However, if you are keen to pursue some other subject/activity, just mention it to our Groups Co-ordinator and we'll put the idea to our members – many current groups began that way.

In addition to group activities we hold a sociable monthly meeting in the Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall, usually on the first Thursday of the month. With time for a cup of tea and a chat, there is also an outside speaker on a wide range of topics and the chance to buy tickets for one of the interesting outings/events run by our Social Committee. Further afield, the Surrey U3A Network runs Study Days 8 times a year, on a variety of subjects, in the Menuhin Hall, Stoke d'Abernon.
