Papercourt Sailing Club - Sailability

Sailability

Papercourt Sailing Club runs free sailing sessions for disabled people of all ages. These sessions are part of Sailability, a national scheme from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) that helps people with disabilities enjoy sailing.

Sailability at Papercourt offers a friendly and supportive experience. Volunteers pair each sailor with an experienced club member in a two-person dinghy. As sailors gain confidence, they can take control of the boat.

Some people prefer sailing in the larger Cornish Crabber ‘Lady Jay’. Others choose the Wheelyboat, which is powered and can carry wheelchairs.

Safety and comfort are key. The club uses six Access dinghies that will not capsize. Two safety boats are always on the water, operated by trained volunteers.

Sailability runs on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Friday afternoons from Easter to October, between 1.30pm and 4.30pm.

There is no charge to take part. The programme is run by volunteers.
