Surrey Sands Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society

Surrey Sands supports parents who have been bereaved. Helping families through baby loss is at the heart of everything they do.

They offer support when a baby has died during pregnancy, around the time of birth or in the first few weeks of life. Whether you are a mother, father, family member or friend, Surrey Sands is there to help you come to terms with what has happened.

Their services include:

  • trained befrienders
  • group support
  • other tailored support options

Surrey Sands supports families linked to:

  • Epsom General Hospital
  • St Helier Hospital
  • St Peter’s Hospital
  • Croydon University Hospital
  • East Surrey Hospital
  • Kingston Hospital
  • Royal Surrey County Hospital

They also train healthcare professionals to help ensure bereaved parents receive the best possible care. Their training and talks are based on the Sands Guidelines, which offer practical advice on how to meet parents’ needs and provide good bereavement care.

Time

The helpline team are available to speak to on the telephone from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 6pm to 9pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
