Fibromyalgia Support Surrey and Sussex
Fibromyalgia Support
This group supports people living with fibromyalgia. It holds monthly meetings in Crawley and Worthing, where members can attend therapy demonstrations and talks on managing the condition.
Weekly yoga classes take place in Horsham, Worthing and Chichester. Members can also join swimming sessions and smaller coffee mornings in each other’s homes for mutual support. Seasonal lunches offer a chance to socialise and build friendships.
The group also runs a penfriend scheme to connect with others living with fibromyalgia in different countries.
Therapy taster days have been held in Horsham and Worthing. These give people the chance to try treatments such as massage, reflexology, herbology, aromatherapy, Alexander technique, cranial sacral therapy, Indian head massage, Reiki, kinesiology and magnet therapy. No single treatment suits everyone, so trying different options is encouraged.
Members can borrow from a large library of books, tapes and CDs about fibromyalgia and relaxation.
The group also publishes a magazine called Fibro News every two months. It includes updates about meetings, member stories, treatments, coping tips and frequently asked questions.
