Family Voice Surrey
Family Voice Surrey
Family Voice Surrey aims to give Surrey parents a strong collective voice, a forum to share knowledge, and empowerment to improve opportunities for children. It champions the needs and rights of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) families in Surrey. This includes families with children or young adults up to the age of 25 who have special educational needs, chronic illnesses (including mental health conditions), or disabilities.
Recognised in the Children and Families Act 2014, Parent Carer Forums provide a platform for Surrey's parent carers of children and young people with additional needs. Family Voice Surrey gathers and represents parent carer views in meetings concerning the implementation of SEND legislation and the planning and delivery of SEND services. They work with representatives from the local authority, local schools, and health services, and build strong relationships with other Surrey-based organisations supporting children and young people with additional needs.
