Bereavement Advice Centre

Co-op Legal Services

The Bereavement Advice Centre is a free helpline and website run by Co-op Legal Services. They help people with the practical steps after someone close has died.

They offer advice on:

  • what to do when someone dies
  • registering a death and telling others
  • probate and legal steps
  • death certificates and coroner’s inquests
  • planning the funeral
  • money and tax matters
  • coping with grief
  • planning ahead

They also help stop unwanted post being sent to the person who has died, which can help prevent identity theft.
