Men's Pit Stop Guildford Outdoor
Surrey County Council Community & Prevention
Guildford Outdoor Men's Pit Stop is a peer support group for men. It gives men a chance to spend time outdoors, enjoy fresh air, and talk with others in a relaxed setting.
The group meets at Rosamund Community Garden in East Guildford, near Pewley and Merrow Downs. The nearest bus stop is on Epsom Road, near Tangier Road. From there, it's about a 20-minute walk to the garden. There is limited parking on Longdown Road.
Men take part in practical outdoor tasks while chatting and supporting each other. You don't need any experience - just wear old clothes and get stuck in. Activities may include:
- building and carpentry
- planting, watering and harvesting
- cooking and chopping wood
- making bird boxes
- other seasonal garden jobs
The group aims to:
- support the local community garden
- reduce loneliness
- help men learn or share practical skills
- build connections and offer space to talk through difficulties
- welcome new ideas to support more people
The site is mostly flat but does not have hard paths, which may make access difficult for wheelchair users. The toilets are also hard to use if you have mobility needs. If you’d like to talk about accessibility, please contact Mike or Blair.
