Organisations that can help

Loneliness is the feeling of being alone whilst social isolation is the lack of social contacts and not having many people to interact with regularly. You can be alone and not feel lonely or socially isolated, and you can feel lonely while being with other people.

Here are some suggestions that you could try to help you stay active and connect with others.

National organisations such as SilverlineRe-engage, or Independent Age and local organisations such as Tandridge Community Companions all offer either face to face or telephone support to people who are lonely or isolated.  There are other befriending organisations also available in Surrey including Good Neighbour Schemes.

Age UK Surrey and Age Concern offer a range of services and activities to anyone over the age of 50 including various activities, while Men in Sheds are groups specifically for men to connect, converse and create.  Some of these services may charge a small fee.
